Students Of Ogun Varsity Stage 3rd Protest In 6 Months Over VC’s Policies

Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, is again boiling as students of the institution protest some ‘harsh’ policies of the school’s authorities.
The students, as early as 7:30am on Monday, stormed the entrance of the school’s permanent site to kick against the policy of class repetition recently introduced by the school for failure to pay school fees on time. They accuse the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof Saburi, of turning the higher institution of learning into a secondary school.
The protest, according to information, is also aimed at forcing the school management to shift its grounds on the policy. The students of the school are said to be posed for a showdown with the VC.
Armed policemen were deployed to bring the situation under control
We learnt that over 65% of 100 level students, who could not pay up their school fees on time, will have to repeat the session, going by the new policy. Further information indicates that the affected students could not meet up with the stipulated matriculation day deadline for the payment of school fees.
In the past, students were given the grace to make a 60% of their fees before examination period, when they are expected to have finished the payments. But under the new policy, that was only allowed for two weeks. The Faculty of Law examination early scheduled to start on Monday (today), has been disrupted due to the protest. This is the third protest in six months.
